TAX REFUND TIME
Written on February 10th 2011
So now is the time of year when you are filing your taxes and you are about to receive the largest lump sum of money that you will get all year. You have waited 12 long months for this chunk of cash and you have been planning how you will spend it and which creditors you will pay. After all, this is the best time to play catch up and get straight with everyone you owe money to, right?
Maybe not…. Maybe, it is best to use that money on the stuff you really need. Car or home repairs, children’s clothes, dental or vision work that needs to be done or even better, paying an attorney to file bankruptcy. Maybe it is time to look at your financial future long-term. If you take your tax refund money and throw it at your debt…are you really getting ahead? Do you have a plan that will allow you to get all of your debt paid off in the next 3-5 years? Or, are you really just putting a band-aid on the problem hoping that this will buy you some time to sort it all out later?
Before you spend that money, maybe it is time you sit down with a bankruptcy attorney to review your options so that you start this New Year making the wisest financial decisions possible. You may find that you can use your tax refund money on those necessities that you have been putting off, and still file a bankruptcy and relieve the burden of your debt.
At the Law Office of Wayne P. Novick, we will sit down with you for a free, in-depth consultation to review your options and help guide you towards the financial freedom you deserve.
